Daley Birkett Awarded Prize for Best Paper at International Economic Law Conference

WSI Research Associate Daley Birkett, was awarded, together with co-author Dini Sejko, the Prize for Best Paper at the 7th Conference of the Postgraduate and Early Professionals/Academics Network of the Society of International Economic Law (PEPA/SIEL), hosted by the European University Cyprus in Nicosia on 13-14 April 2018. The Prize, sponsored by Edward Elgar Publishing, was awarded for their paper titled ‘United Nations Sanctions and the Governance of Sovereign Wealth Funds: Investigating the Case of the Libyan Investment Authority’.


At the Walther Schücking Institute, Daley acts as an Assistant Editor of the German Yearbook for International Law and convenes a course in International Criminal Law. Dini is a Ph.D. Candidate and Research Assistant at The Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law and a Research Affiliate at SovereigNET, a network based at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Daley and Dini gratefully acknowledge the generous financial support of the Walther Schücking Foundation and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, respectively, for partially funding their travel expenses.
