Supervision of Foreign Students

In Kiel there are a lot of supervising facilities available to support students in mastering the challenge of a foreign study programme. The ERASMUS/LL.M. office of the Law Faculty and the International Center of the University assist the foreign students in all academic and organisational matters. Moreover, there exists a bundle of social and cultural events which gives an insight into German society and culture and helps the integration of foreign students into German university life. [mehr]

ERASMUS/LL.M. Office of the Law Faculty

Mrs. Carmen Thies, coordinator of the ERASMUS/LL.M. office in the Law Faculty, is the contact person in all organisational and specialist matters with regard to the ERASMUS/LL.M. study programme and supports students in choosing their courses.

Welcome Team

The Welcome Team of the Law Faculty (located at the Walther Schuecking Institute) consists of students who have already gained experience as former ERASMUS students. The Team assists with the study programme and organises excursions (such as to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg and the brewery in Flensburg) and meetings of the ERASMUS and LL.M. students.

International Center

The International Center is available to answer questions on the application process and other general matters.

Student Dormitories

At the student dormitories “country evenings” are regularly organised. The programme of such an evening is arranged by the students of one country who represent their home country with presentations, food and music.

BaSIS (Advice and Service for International Students)

BaSIS ("Beratung und Service für Internationale Studierende", Advice and Service for International Students) provides information and advice on all questions concerning life as an international student in Kiel. BaSIS also organizes and coordinates a range of cultural events and the StudyBuddy programme. This programme partners every international student with one Kiel student - the Buddy - who can provide expert knowledge and concrete support. Students and their Buddies often take part in group activities. More Information about the services of BaSIS can be found on the website of the Student Union (see under "International")
